From May 12 to 13, the 2021 China International Engineering Contracting Industry Development Conference and 2021 China International Engineering Contracting Industry Development Forum were held in Beijing. Guo Wei, President of CRIG, was invited to attend the event and make a discussion speech.
During the conference, 79 units including CRIG were awarded the title of "Class A enterprise in international engineering contracting industry in 2021".
This forum was themed with "seeking business opportunity, opening new situation, gathering strength, and jointly exploring a new path of high-quality sustainable development in the industry". About 500 representatives of government departments such as the National Development and Reform Commission and the Ministry of Commerce, financial institutions such as the Export Import Bank of China, local business associations, professional institutions and member enterprises attended this Forum. In this Forum, they worked together to explore a new path for high-quality sustainable development of international engineering contracting industry and discuss a development plan for the industry.
In the seminar session, Guo Wei made an introduction of
the successful experience of CRIG in beneficial attempts in smart city
development in Bangladesh and other countries in recent years, and gave three
suggestions for industry enterprises to expand such business in the future. Guo
Wei said that the development plan of the host country, supporting policy of
the Chinese government and comparative advantages of Chinese
enterprises should be effectively integrated in the development of new
infrastructure projects to avoid resource misallocation. For example,
Bangladesh Government’s basic network project Phase III not only responded to
the joint construction of the “Belt and Road”, but also aligned with the host
government’s “Digital Bangladesh” strategy. In addition, it conformed to the
direction of China’s preferential loan support, giving full play to the
respective advantages of the partners. New infrastructures should be integrated
with traditional infrastructure, and the competitive advantages of traditional
transportation, urban, electric power, industry and other fields should be
transformed into the first mover advantage of smart transportation, smart city,
smart energy, smart manufacturing and other fields under the empowerment of the
digital and information technology. A suitable business model and operation
path should be chosen, an attempt to participate in local industry planning and
project feasibility studies should be made. The economic and technological
sustainability of the project and the high quality of enterprise operation
should be ensured from the source through project operation or the integration
of investment, construction and operation. Chinese standards should be
promoted to go global. In the " Belt and Road" construction, the
"five connectivity" in the "host country and region" should
be achieved, especially in policy communication and closer people-to-people
ties, and the competitive advantages of Chinese enterprises should be
established in proper order from a more macro and long-term perspective.
